Hudson Valley Community College - Hudson Valley Community College (abbreviation: HVCC) is a two-year public community college associated with the State University of New York (SUNY), founded in 1953 and located in Troy, Rensselaer County, on the east bank of the Hudson River in eastern New York. Your username is the first letter of your first name followed by a hyphen (-) and then the first 13 letters of your last name. Your username may also end with one or more numbers if another student with a similar name creates a duplicate username.

  • Example 1: Jane Smith's username is j-smith.
  • Example 2: Joseph Smith's username is j-smith1.

If you have not set up an alternate email in WIReD or answered the security question, you can request a password reset using the following methods:

  • If you are unable to come to campus, then you can request a password reset and have it provided to you via Zoom or postal mail as follows:
  • Zoom in:Call the Enrollment Service Provider's office at (518) 629-4574 (M-F, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.) or the Computer Learning Center (M-Th, 7 a.m.-10 p.m., Fri, 7 a.m.-5 p.m., Sat. 9 a.m.-4 PM) and a staff member will then invite you to a Zoom session to verify your identity. You will need access to a webcam on your computer or a smartphone with a camera. Please be prepared to display your photo ID on the camera.You will be given a temporary password that will allow you to create a new password when you log in.
  •  Post:fulfillment User Name and Password Request Form, mail your username and new password to your permanent address at the College.

How do I set up an alternate email in WIReD?

You need to be able to set up an alternate email in WIReD to use the online "Forgot Password" tool.

1. Access in the browserWIReD Home2. SelectionLogging on to WIReD.Then log in with your username and password.

Mobile Device Access

Install Microsoft Outlook App on iPhone, iPad and Android

  1. Download the "Microsoft Outlook" application from your application store. Open the application.
  2. Select "Getting Started".
    iOS:Select "No thanks" or "Notify me" depending on your preference for email notifications on your device.
  3. Enter your full university email address.
  4. iOS:Select "Add Account".
    Android:Select "Continue".
  5. If the next screen you see is "Enter your IMAP account details", select "Not an IMAP account" at the bottom of the screen.
  6. Select "Exchange" from the list of e-mail provider options.
  7. Enter your university password.
  8. Enter a description of the mailbox (e.g. HVCC).
  9. Select the check mark in the upper right corner of the screen.
  10. Select "Maybe later".
  11. You are now connected to University email through the Outlook application.

Install iOS Mail App on iPhone and iPad

  1. Open the device settings.
  2. Select "Mail, Contacts, Calendar".
  3. Select "Add Account".
  4. Select "Exchange".
  5. Enter your complete University email address and password.
  6. The mailbox description will default to "Exchange". Change it to "HVCC".
  7. Select "Next" in the upper right corner of the screen.
  8. Verifying your account will take some time. Once verified, a list of items that can be synchronized to your device will be displayed. Make sure Mail is turned on.
  9. Select "Save" in the upper right corner of the screen.
  10. You are now connected to University email through the iOS Mail app.

Android Email App Setup

  1. Open the E-mail application.
  2. Select "Outlook.com".
  3. Delete the text "@ outlook.com" and enter your full university email address and password.
  4. Select "Next" in the lower right corner of the screen.
  5. Select "Microsoft Exchange Activesync".
  6. Select "OK" for the activation agreement.
  7. It will take some time to check the incoming server settings. Once this is done, a list of options and items that can be synchronized to the device will be displayed. Make sure that "Synchronize email" is checked.
  8. Select Next.
  9. Enter the account name. You can leave it as an e-mail address or change it to something else, such as "HVCC".
  10. Select Next.
  11. You are now connected to University email through the Android email app.
