School Introduction

Founded in 1846, Northeastern State University (NSU) is one of Oklahoma's leading universities and a member of the Oklahoma State System of Higher Education, the state's educational institution. "NSU was founded in 1846 as one of Oklahoma's leading universities and is a member of The Oklahoma State System of Higher Education, the state's educational agency, and the Cherokee Women's Teachers' College, which was approved by the U.S. Congress and the state government in 1939. It is designed to strengthen and build the state's institutions of higher education, as well as to establish model institutions of higher education in the United States with distinctive characteristics. Accredited and recommended by the North Central States Education Association, the National Association for Teacher Certification, and the Oklahoma State Certification Center. It is also one of the first formal state institutions of higher education outside of China to be recognized by the Chinese Ministry of Education. Northeastern State University awards 58 baccalaureate degrees and 21 graduate degrees, of which the most popular majors are education, business, psychology, criminal justice and early childhood education. Northeastern State University has a full-time enrollment of more than 10,000 students, with 971 TP3T U.S. students and 31 TP3T foreign students.
