John A Logan College, Illinois Founded in 1967, John A Logan College is an American public community college in Carterville, Illinois. Founded in 1967 under the Illinois Junior College Act of 1965, it enrolled its first students in the fall of 1968 and received a permanent campus in 1969. The college was named after John A. Logan, a a Civil War general who also represented Illinois in the U.S. Congress before and after the war as a member of the pre-war House of Representatives and the post-war Senate. The school offers career preparation programs as well as a two-year college transfer program. The four-year university in Illinois clarifies its transfer programs. Its online programs include non-credit courses on topics not typically found in higher education curricula.
