University of La Verne (ULV), founded in 1891, is one of the oldest national universities in the western United States, with more than 125 years of existence. Its predecessor was the church-founded Lordsburg College, which became La Verne College in 1917 when the Lordsburg agricultural community changed its name to La Verne. In 1977, the college officially changed its name to Lavon University, and in 1981 opened a branch campus in Orange County, followed by campuses in San Francisco, Ken County, and St. Louis, an instructional site for the military in Alaska, and a branch campus in Greece. In 2013, La Verne University was ranked 95th overall in the U.S. undergraduate rankings and in the top 100 of U.S. News & World Report's top colleges and universities in the country. LaVernon University School of Business is an AACSB accredited business school and the U.S. Doctor of Management D.P.A. accreditation, AACSB accreditation system of rigorous, high standards which represents a business school of the world's highest achievement, LaVernon School of Business to obtain the American Society for Public Policy Analysis and Management Master of Public Administration NASPAA accreditation. 2019 U.S. News U.S. University Comprehensive Ranking No. 136.
