Introduction

arXiv (pronounced "archive" - the X stands for the Greek letter chi ⟨χ⟩) is an open-access repository of electronic preprints and postprints (called e- prints) repository that is reviewed and approved for release, but not peer-reviewed. It consists of scientific papers in the fields of mathematics, physics, astronomy, electrical engineering, computer science, quantitative biology, statistics, mathematical finance, and economics that can be accessed online. In many areas of mathematics and physics, almost all scientific papers are self-archived in arXiv repositories prior to publication in peer-reviewed journals. Some publishers also allow authors to archive peer-reviewed postprints. arXiv.org, which began on August 14, 1991, passed the 500,000-article milestone on October 3, 2008, and by the end of 2014 had reached one million articles , and by the end of 2014 had reached two million articles . As of April 2021, the submission rate is approximately 16,000 articles per month. Overall administrative and financial responsibility for arXiv's operations and development is now vested in the Cornell University Library. in January 2022, arXiv began working with DataCite to assign DOIs to articles

Registration Process
